Colourful & Intimate Jazz
Lea Gasser – acc, fx, comp
Sylvie Klijn – voc, fx, comp
The OXEON duo invents colorful dialogues between voice and accordion: in unison or polyphony, intimate or extrovert, melancholy or lively. The musicians’ improvisations and compositions transport the audience into imaginary worlds.
OXEON plays their own jazz compositions, and improvises and arranges on existing classical compositions. Their repertoire includes works by Monteverdi, Scarlatti, Ravel and languages such as English, Dutch and Italian. By opening up the rich and beautiful material of classical music, personal and contemporary arrangements come to life. Adding effects pedals to their repertoire, even more colors and textures blend into their musical world. Drawing on their classical and jazz training, the Swiss accordionist and Dutch singer, both living in Lausanne, find the ultimate fusion in this project.
In september 2023 they released their album titled ‘Somewhere Far’ which has been nominated for an Edison Klassiek, a national Dutch prize for music albums.
